Saturday update: Bachman in goal tonight; Daley and Chiasson are out

Richard Bachman will get the start in goal tonight when the Dallas Stars take on the Detroit Red Wings in the regular season finale at American Airlines Center.

Trevor Daley will not play tonight due to a neck injury that he’s been playing through for some time. It’s something that could require surgery this offseason, according to Stars coach Glen Gulutzan.

“I can’t emphasize enough how much he has battled to play,” said Gulutzan. “A lot of guys have and he is certainly one of them.”

Alex Goligoski, who has a fractured bone in his foot, and Aaron Rome, who missed the last game with a hip injury, will both play tonight.

Right wing Alex Chiasson will miss his sixth straight game due to a shoulder injury.

” He’s not ready,” said Gulutzan. “At this juncture he’s close, but the risk-reward for putting him in is not there.”

Tonight’s a big game for the Red Wings, who are trying to secure one of the final two playoff spots in the Western Conference. The Stars have an opportunity to play spoiler, but that’s not their primary goal.

“We talked about that this morning and I think our team is playing here more for its pride,” said Gulutzan. “We’re proud of the way we’ve battled for the last month and we don’t want to do anything other than play our last game the way we battled the 30 days since the trade deadline.”
