Here are some notes on Dallas Stars prospects playing in juniors, college and the European leagues.
*RW Matej Stransky (sixth round/2011) continues to rack up the points for Saskatoon of the Western Hockey League. Stransky had 8 points (6 goals, 2 assists) and a plus-8 rating in four games last week. On Friday, Stransky scored three goals – all in the first period – as Saskatoon defeated Brandon, 7-4. Stransky has registered points in 14 of his last 15 games, and has 25 points (14 goals, 11 assists) during that stretch. He has 76 points (37 goals, 39 assists) in 62 games, ranking 10th in the WHL in goals and 11th in points.
*RW Brett Ritchie (second round/2011) scored two goals as Niagara defeated Kingston, 4-1, in the Ontario Hockey League Saturday. Ritchie, who snapped a six-game goal scoring drought with the two tallies, has 64 points (33 goals, 31 assists) in 46 games this season. He ranks 10th in the OHL in goal scoring.
*D Troy Vance (fifth round/2011) had 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) and a plus-4 rating in three games over the past week for P.E.I. of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Since being traded to P.E.I. from Victoriaville earlier this season, Vance has 8 points (1 goal, 7 assists) and a plus-11 rating in 19 games.
*LW Devin Shore (second round/2012) registered an assist in each of the University of Maine’s games this past weekend. Shore has points in eight of his last nine games and has registered 11 points (1 goal, 10 assists) during that stretch. Shore, a freshman, leads Maine in scoring with 20 points (3 goals, 17 assists) in 32 games. He ranks third among Hockey East freshmen in scoring.
*LW Alex Guptill (third round/2010) had three goals and one assist as Michigan swept a two-game series from Ohio State over the weekend. Guptill, a sophomore, has 6 points (4 goals, 2 assists) over his last three games. For the season, he has 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists) in 30 games.
*D John Klingberg (fifth round/2010) picked up two assists in three games for Skelleftea of the Swedish Elite League last week. Klingberg has 11 points (1 goal, 10 assists) in 21 games this season.
*D Esa Lindell (third round/2012) picked up 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) and a plus-3 rating in three games over the past week for Jokerit in Finnish junior hockey. Lindell has 9 points (5 goals, 4 assists) in 9 games for Jokerit’s junior club.
*G Henri Kiviaho (fifth round/2012) stopped 24 shots for his fourth shutout of the season as KalPa defeated Karpat in Finnish junior hockey last week. Kiviaho is 15-14 this season with a 2.58 goals against average and .906 save percentage.
*C Gemel Smith (fourth round/2012) returned from a lower body injury and played two games for Owen Sound of the OHL this past week, registering no points. Smith has 43 points (19 goals, 24 assists) in 52 games.
*Injury notes: C Radek Faksa (first round/2012) remains out with an MCL injury for Kitchener of the OHL. He was scheduled to start skating last week. RW Branden Troock (fifth round/2012) remains out with an upper body injury for Seattle of the WHL.
