Stars acquire minor league defenseman from Pittsburgh

The Dallas Stars have acquired minor league defenseman Carl Sneep from the Pittsburgh Penguins, and assigned him to the Texas Stars. Here is the release:

The Dallas Stars announced today that they have acquired defenseman Carl Sneep from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He has been assigned to the Texas Stars, Dallas’ primary affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Sneep, 25, has skated in 29 games this season for the Wheeling Nailers, Pittsburgh’s ECHL affiliate. In those 29 games, he has earned a plus-12 rating and 15 points (3G-12A) ranking third among all Nailers defensemen in scoring. The St. Louis Park, Minn. native also skated in one AHL game for the Hershey Bears and was Pittsburgh’s second-round selection (32nd overall) in 2006.
