About the Stars

The Stars will kick off a stretch of seven games in the first 11 days of the lockout-shortened season. They play 10 of their first 15 games on the road.

Saturday’s game will mark the debut of Jaromir Jagr in a Dallas uniform. Ray Whitney will also make his Dallas debut and it will come against the Coyotes, the team he helped lead to the Western Conference Finals last season.

The Stars likely will be without forward Jamie Benn, a restricted free agent who has yet to sign a contract.

Kari Lehtonen will start in goal for the Stars.

Injuries: D Aaron Rome (groin) is questionable.

About the Coyotes

The Coyotes play seven games in the first 12 days of the season and will play eight of their first 11 games at home.

Forwards Shane Doan and Boyd Gordon, who had injury issues during training camp, are expected to play on Saturday.

Forward Matthew Lombardi, acquired from Toronto on Wednesday, was expected to join the team in Dallas Friday night. If he does arrive in time, he is expected to play, according to coach Dave Tippett.

Mike Smith is the expected starter in goal for the Coyotes.

Injuries:  F Raffi Torres (suspension) is out.

*Michael Ryder led the Stars in goal scoring against Phoenix last season, notching four in six games.
