Here are some notes on Dallas Stars prospects playing in juniors, college and the European leagues.
*RW Brett Ritchie (second round/2011) scored one goal in his first game back with Niagara of the Ontario Hockey League after returning from the World Junior Championship. Ritchie has 51 points (28 goals, 23 assists) in 33 games. Ritchie is currently at Dallas Stars training camp. C Radek Faksa (first round/2012) is also at the Dallas camp.
*C Gemel Smith (fourth round/2012) had one goal and two assists in three games for Owen Sound of the OHL over the past week. Smith has 41 points (18 goals, 23 assists) in 42 games this season.
*C Mike Winther (second round/2012) picked up three points (one goal, two assists) in three games for Prince Albert of the Western Hockey League this past week. Winther has 38 points (15 goals, 23 assists) in 40 games.
*RW Branden Troock (fifth round/2012) scored two goals and chipped in an assist in four games for Seattle of the WHL last week. Troock has 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists) in 16 games this season.
*D Troy Vance (fifth round/2011) is skating with a new team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He was traded from Victoriaville to P.E.I. last week. He’s played three games with P.E.I. since the deal, registering no points. Vance is now teammates with Stars goaltending prospect Maxime Lagace.
*D John Klingberg (fifth round/2010) registered four assists and a plus-five rating in Skelleftea’s 6-2 victory over Brynas in the Swedish Elite League on Saturday. Klingberg has seven assists and a plus-ten rating in ten games this season.
*D Ludwig Bystrom (second round/2012) has been loaned from MODO of the Swedish Elite League to Obrero of Sweden’s second tier league. The goal is to get more ice time for Bystrom, who was averaging 10:10 per game with MODO.
*G Henri Kiviaho (fifth round/2012) stopped 33 of 35 shots as KalPa defeated HIFK in Finnish junior hockey last week. Kiviaho is 11-8 this season with a 2.74 goals against average and .904 save percentage.
*LW Alex Guptill (third round/2010) registered one goal and one assist in Michigan’s 5-4 loss to Alaska on Friday. Guptill, who snapped a 13-game goal scoring drought and a six-game points drought, has 14 points (5 goals, 9 assists) in 20 games.
*C Scott Winkler (third round/2008) picked up two goals and one assist in two games for Colorado College over the weekend. Winkler has 23 points (12 goals, 11 assists) in 24 games. He is tied for sixth in the nation in goal scoring.
