Team USA rolled in its first game of the World Junior Championship, routing Germany, 8-0, on day two of the tournament in Ufa, Russia.
Eight different players scored for the USA, including Plano native Seth Jones, who added an assist in the game.
Sean Kuraly scored 19 seconds into the game for Team USA, which built a 3-0 lead by the 9:54 mark of the first period. Alex Galchenyuk and Riley Barber both had one goal and two assists for the Americans. John Gibson (19 saves) and Jon Gillies (7 saves) combined for the shutout.
Switzerland defeated Latvia, 7-2, in the only other game played Thursday.
No Dallas Stars prospects were in action Thursday, but all three playing in the tournament will be in action on Friday.
Brett Ritchie and Canada take on Slovakia, Radek Faksa’s Czech Republic team plays Finland and Emil Molin and Sweden go up against Switzerland.
