Here are some notes on Dallas Stars prospects playing in juniors, college and the European leagues.
*RW Brett Ritchie (second round/2011) scored three goals in two games for Niagara of the Ontario Hockey League this weekend. Ritchie, who extended his goal scoring streak to five games, now has 27 goals in 32 games this season and is tied for the OHL lead. Ritchie, who has scored goals in 14 of his last 16 games, heads to Calgary this week for Canada’s World Junior Championship selection camp.
*C Radek Faksa (first round/2012) had one assist in three games for Kitchener of the OHL this past week. Faksa has 25 points (7 goals, 18 assists) in 29 games this season. He heads to Czech Republic this week for that country’s World Junior camp.
*C Gemel Smith (fourth round/2012) had one goal and one assist in three games for Owen Sound of the OHL this past week. Smith has 34 points (14 goals, 20 assists) in 32 games this season.
*RW Matej Stransky (sixth round/2011) had eight points (five goals, three assists) in three games this past week for Saskatoon of the Western Hockey League. Stransky has scored 11 goals in his last 11 games, and now has 35 points (16 goals, 19 assists) in 30 games.
*C Mike Winther (second round/2012) had three assists in three games for Prince Albert of the WHL over the past week. Winther has 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists) in 29 games.
*D Troy Vance (fifth round/2011) snapped a nine-game pointless drought with a goal and an assist in Victoriaville’s 7-3 win over Moncton Friday in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Vance has 13 points (3 goals, 10 assists) in 29 games this season.
*D Ludwig Bystrom (second round/2012) scored his third goal of the season for MODO of the Swedish Elite League this past week. Bystrom, who has 5 points (3 goals, 2 assists) in 26 games, leads all junior defensemen playing in the Swedish Elite League in both goals and points.
*D John Klingberg (fifth round/2010) picked up his first points of the season, registering two assists in Skelleftea’s 5-4 victory over Farjestads in the Swedish Elite League on Saturday. Klingberg, who missed the first 28 games of the season, has suited up for three games.
*LW Emil Molin (fourth round/2011) didn’t pick up any points while playing in four games for Brynas in both the Swedish Elite League and junior hockey over the past week. Molin is set to take part in Sweden’s World Juniors selection camp, which gets underway later this week.
*D Esa Lindell (third round/2012) had one goal and one assist in two games with K-Vantaa in Finland’s second tier league last week. Lindell has 6 points (3 goals, 3 assists) in 10 games with K-Vantaa this season. Lindell, who has no points in 19 games with Jokerit of the Finnish Elite League, is scheduled to take part in Finland’s World Junior camp later this week.
*C Scott Winkler (third round/2008) had two assists in Colorado College’s 4-4 tie with Minnesota on Friday night. Winkler, who has 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists) in 18 games, is tied for fifth in the nation in goal scoring and is tied for eleventh in the nation in points.
