Saturday notes: Brett Ritchie, Austin Smith stay hot

Here are a few notes on Dallas Stars prospects who were in action Friday night.

*RW Brett Ritchie (second round/2011) ran his goal scoring streak to five games with a pair of goals in Niagara’s 5-2 loss to London Friday night in the Ontario Hockey League. Ritchie has scored goals in 14 of his last 16 games and has 23 goals during that stretch. For the season, Ritchie has 27 goals in 32 games and is tied for the OHL lead. Next up for Ritchie is Canada’s selection camp for the World Junior Championship. The camp gets underway Tuesday in Calgary.

*RW Austin Smith (fifth round/2007) registered one goal and one assist as the Idaho Steelheads defeated Las Vegas, 6-3, in the ECHL Friday night. Smith has points in seven straight games, registering 11 points (7 goals, 4 assists) during that stretch. Smith has 10 goals in 13 games with Idaho this season.

*D Troy Vance (fifth round/2011) snapped a nine-game pointless drought by registering one goal and one assist in Victoriaville’s 7-3 victory over Moncton in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Friday night.
