Stars reduce training camp roster

The Dallas Stars reduced their training camp roster by four players today.

*Defenseman John Klingberg was assigned to Frolunda of the Swedish Hockey League.

*Goaltender Philippe Desrosiers was assigned to his junior team, Rimouski of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

*Defenseman Troy Vance was assigned to his junior team, Charlottetown of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

*Goaltender Josh Robinson was released from his professional tryout.

  1. I thought Klingberg might stay. I know he was under contract in the SHL but I thought the Stars might trump that contract. Maybe he was not ready for play here.

  2. The Stars would have liked to him to stay over here, but Klingberg wants another year in Sweden to develop before making the jump to North America. He missed half of last season due to surgery on both hips. He wants to get in a full season over there and then come over here.

  3. Does Robinson go back to Texas or is this a full release?

  4. I heard comparisons with for Klingberg with Karlsson. That’s pretty lofty, yet Karlsson wasn’t a top five pick himself. He obviously developed and became a high caliber player. Does Klingberg have similar potential?
