Prospect rankings

Some prospect rankings have come out over the past few weeks. The latest to put out a list is The Hockey News, which ranked the prospects for all 30 teams in its 2013-14 NHL Preview. and Hockey Prospectus also released rankings recently.

All three agree that forward Valeri Nichushkin – the Stars’ No. 1 pick in this summer’s NHL draft – is the team’s top prospect. After that the rankings vary. Brett Ritchie, Jamie Oleksiak, Alex Chiasson, Radek Faksa and Jason Dickinson all show up in the top 10 of all three rankings. Jack Campbell shows up in the top five of two of the lists but not in the rankings for Hockey Prospectus, which usually doesn’t include goaltenders in its rankings.

Anyway, here are the top ten Dallas prospects according to The Hockey News, Hockey Prospectus and

  1. Chiasson – Scores 6 goals in 7 NHL games last season, gets ranked 7th.

  2. Scott Glennie didn’t even make the list? What a horrific bust!

    • What you do in seven games doesn’t define his hockey career. Look at his AHL numbers.. pretty average for a first year player. He isn’t the next Crosby.
