Prospect notes: Peters, Portland advance to Memorial Cup final

Dallas Stars prospect Taylor Peters is heading to the championship game at the Memorial Cup after his Portland Winterhawks defeated the London Knights, 2-1 Friday night. Portland will take on the Halifax Mooseheads Sunday for the Memorial Cup.

Peters had no points and an even rating in Friday’s game, but as has been the case throughout the tournament he has been a key faceoff guy for the Winterhawks, taking a lot of the team’s defensive zone draws.

Sunday’s championship game between Portland and Halifax will feature the top three prospects for this summer’s upcoming NHL Entry Draft. Defenseman Seth Jones plays for Portland, while forwards Nathan MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin play for Halifax. The game will be broadcast live on the NHL Network at 6 p.m. Central Time.
