Former Dallas Stars coach Glen Gulutzan has a new gig. He’ll be helping out the Saskatoon Blades as a guest coach at the Memorial Cup, which gets underway Friday in Saskatoon. Gulutzan played for the Blades in 1991-92.
“We’re happy to have another set of eyes to help us out,” Blades GM and head coach Lorne Molleken told the Saskatoon StarPhoenix. “He’ll be the eye in the sky. As we go through the different games his input will be real, real important.”
Gulutzan, who was dismissed as Stars coach on Tuesday, told the StarPhoenix he knew he probably was on the way out in Dallas when a new GM came into the picture.
“It’s one of those things where you don’t want to prepare for it,” Gulutzan told the newspaper. “Certainly with the change of Joe Nieuwendyk, who was the guy that hired me and Jim Nill coming in, I had a pretty good idea that there was going to be changes.
“When a new GM comes in he wants to bring in his own people.”
