Prospect Notes: May 1

Only one Dallas prospect has continued onto the league finals in the Canadian Hockey League. Meanwhile, another one isn’t playing now, but will be when the Memorial Cup tournament begins in a couple weeks.

*C Taylor Peters (free agent/2013) is heading to the Western Hockey League finals with the Portland Winterhawks, who defeated Kamloops, 4-1, in the Western Conference Finals. Peters had one assist in five games in the series against Kamloops. He has 9 points (1 goal, 8 assists) in 15 playoff games. Portland will play Edmonton in the WHL Finals, which begin on Friday.

*RW Cody Payne (trade acquisition/2013) had his season end when Plymouth lost to London in the Ontario Hockey League’s Western Conference Finals, 4-1. Payne had no points in the series against London and ended the playoffs with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) in 15 games.

*RW Matej Stransky’s (sixth round/2011) Saskatoon team lost in the first round of the WHL playoffs, but Stransky and the Blades will be back in action when the Memorial Cup begins on May 17. Saskatoon is the host team this year and will be joined in the tournament by the champions of the WHL, OHL and QMJHL.
