About the Stars

The Stars (22-19-3) are coming off a 2-1 loss in St. Louis Friday night. They enter Sunday’s game two points behind eighth-place Columbus and one point behind ninth-place Detroit. They need points Sunday in Los Angeles to keep pace in the race.

“You can expect (urgency) in every game from here on out,” said Stars center Jamie Benn. “With the standings and all that, you need at least a point in every game from here on out to make a push to get into the playoffs.”

Sunday’s game is the second of a three-game road trip for the Stars. They wrap up the trip Tuesday in San Jose.

Injuries: D Trevor Daley and LW Lane MacDermid (chest) are questionable. RW Alex Chiasson (shoulder) is out.

About the Kings

The Kings (25-14-5) clinched a playoff spot Saturday night when Vancouver defeated Detroit in a shootout, 2-1. The Kings last played Thursday, defeating Columbus 2-1 at Staples. The victory ran the Kings’ points streak to four games (3-0-1). The Kings are battling San Jose and St. Louis for the fourth seed in the West, which would bring home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

“Points are hard to come by at this time of the year, so any time you can get them, and try and lock up home ice, that’s our goal,” said Kings forward Kyle Clifford, whose goal with 6:28 left in the second period snapped a 1-1 tie Thursday and held up as the game-winner.

The Kings have won five straight at home.

Injuries: D Willie Mitchell (knee) is out.
