Saturday update: MacDermid close to returning, Daley still day-to-day

Dallas Stars forward Lane MacDermid, who has missed the last seven games with a chest injury, has been cleared to play and should return for either Sunday’s game in Los Angeles or Tuesday’s game in San Jose.

“He’s close. I think he’s been cleared to play here, so we’ll make a decision with him tomorrow,” said Stars coach Glen Gulutzan. “We’ll definitely see him either tomorrow or the San Jose game (Tuesday). … most likely in San Jose on Tuesday.”

Defenseman Trevor Daley, who missed last night’s game in St. Louis with an upper body injury, is still day-to-day.

“We’ll see how he is tomorrow morning,” Gulutzan said.

Right wing Alex Chiasson, who has missed the last two games with a shoulder injury, skated Saturday but is still not close to playing.

“He is still a ways away,” Gulutzan said. “He didn’t any shooting, he just did some skating. He a ways away. A week for sure.”

Kari Lehtonen will get the start in goal on Sunday versus the Kings.
