Here are a few notes from Thursday’s Dallas Stars practice in Frisco.
Center Jamie Benn and defenseman Aaron Rome, who did not practice one Wednesday, were both back out on the ice today. Yesterday was a maintenance day for Benn, who is still dealing with a hand issue. Rome had the day off for a personal matter.
Erik Cole did not practice today due to a personal matter. He skated after practice with Ryan Garbutt, who is still out with a hand injury.
“Cole had a personal matter to tend with this morning,” Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said. “He’s out there now skating. He’s healthy and ready to go. He’ll be a player for tomorrow.”
With Cole not practicing, Jordie Benn took his place on a line with Reilly Smith and Cody Eakin. Otherwise, the Stars’ forward lines and defense pairs were the same as those used in Monday’s game against Minnesota.
The Stars play Minnesota again tomorrow night at American Airlines Center. The Wild played last night in Minnesota, defeating Phoenix 4-3 in overtime. Gulutzan said two straight games against a team does have its advantages.
“I think you’re better pre-scouted for a team normally when you are playing back-to-back or every other night or you are moving from team to team,” said Gulutzan. “We got to watch them on video and we got to watch them last night, myself and Paul Jerrard watched their game last night. We’re a little bit more prepared for them and their personnel and hopefully that translates into two points.”
Note: Jordie Benn took the spot of Erik Cole, who missed practice due to a personal matter
