Wednesday update: No lineup changes expected for Stars

It appears the Dallas Stars will go with the same lineup tonight against the Colorado Avalanche that they used in Monday’s win against Calgary.

Kari Lehtonen will start tonight’s game and Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said he and his staff will make a decision on whether Lehtonen or Jack Campbell, called up from the AHL on Monday, will play in the second game of this back-to-back, which is tomorrow night in Los Angeles.

“We won’t decide until tomorrow,” Gulutzan said. “We’ll make the decision that is best to win the game after tonight.”

Philip Larsen, who missed the last game due to illness, is still ill and won’t play tonight.

The Stars have been playing well on the road and come into tonight’s game with a record of 6-2-1 in their last nine games away from home.

“I think it takes some of the pressure off us on the road,” Gulutzan said. “For whatever reason, this team seems loose on the road.”

Added forward Eric Nystrom: “When you get on the road, you get away from thinking you have to do something special or put on a show. You come on the road and you just play a simple game, you don’t have to try to impress anybody. That’s really helped us this year, we’ve been playing strong and simple on the road and that’s huge.”

Semyon Varlamov will start in goal for the Avalanche, who have lost four straight including three straight at home.

  1. I’m a huge Stars fan in San Jose (do you know how hard that is?). I hope they keep up the road winning ways when they come here in April. I’ll definitely be there. The Eakin, Smith, Jagr line has become my favorite.
