Cristopher Nilstorp will get the start in goal tonight and it appears Trevor Daley is ready to return as the Dallas Stars play at Nashville tonight. Also, Matt Fraser will make his season debut for the Stars.
Daley, who has missed the last two games with a neck injury, is expected to return for tonight’s game.
“I feel good and I am told I am in,” said Daley.
Daley is expected to skate with Jordie Benn on the Dallas blue line tonight. Brenden Dillon and Stephane Robidas will play together and Alex Goligoski and Jamie Oleksiak will be the other pairing.
Fraser, who was called up last week and is the top goal scorer for the Texas Stars, will play left wing on a line with center Derek Roy and right wing Loui Eriksson.
“He’s got two players. When you look at Matt, he’s not a fourth line guy. He’s scored a lot of goals at the minor league level,” Gulutzan said. “When you bring these kids up you like to put them in a position that suits them and gives them a chance to show off their skill set. That’s what we are doing tonight.”
Nilstorp will make his third straight start for the Stars. He is coming off a solid performance against San Jose on Saturday, stopping 31 of 32 shots in the Stars’ 3-1 victory.
Goaltender Kari Lehtonen, who is out with a groin injury, took part in this morning’s skate in Nashville. He is questionable to play Tuesday in Columbus.
“We have to be careful with goalies a little different on these injuries,” said Gulutzan. “But the way he looked today and the way he looked yesterday, it’s kind of going to be up to him and where he feels comfortable. There’s a possibility, but we’ll evaluate how he is tonight.”
