Dallas Stars Prospect Report: Feb. 18

Here are some notes on Dallas Stars prospects playing in juniors, college and the European leagues.

*RW Matej Stransky (sixth round/2011) picked up 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) in his first two games of last week for Saskatoon of the Western Hockey League, running his points streak to ten games. Stransky had 17 points (8 goals, 9 assists) during the streak, which ended Saturday night. Stransky has 68 points (31 goals 37 assists this season) in 51 games and ranks 15th in the WHL in goals and 16th in points.

*RW Brett Ritchie (second round/2011) had three assists in Niagara’s 6-3 win over Erie in the Ontario Hockey League on Wednesday. Ritchie has 10 assists over his last seven games, but he’s cooled off recently in the goal scoring department, registering  three goals in his last eleven games. Ritchie has 62 points (31 goals, 31 assists) in 44 games this season. He ranks eighth in the OHL in goal scoring.

*LW Devin Shore (second round/2012) registered 5 points (1 goal, 4 assists) in two games for Maine over the weekend. Shore had two assists in Maine’s 3-3 tie with Boston University on Friday. He then picked up one goal and two assists in Maine’s 5-4 overtime loss to BU on Saturday. Shore, a freshman, has 18 points (3 goals, 15 assists) in 30 games this season, and ranks second on Maine in scoring.

*D Esa Lindell (third round/2012) scored a goal in Jokerit’s 3-1 victory over the Espoo Blues in Finnish junior hockey last week. Lindell has 5 points (3 goals, 2 assists) in 6 games for Jokerit’s junior club.

*D Jyrki Jokipakka (seventh round/2011) picked up an assist and played a game-high 26:48 in Ilves’ 4-1 loss to HPK in Finland’s top league last Thursday. Jokipakka has 17 points (5 goals, 12 assists) in 50 games. He leads Ilves in average ice time at 24:07 per game.

*LW Curtis McKenzie (sixth round/2009) had an assist in Miami University’s 3-1 win over Notre Dame on Friday. McKenzie, a senior, has 20 points (8 goals, 12 assists) in 28 games.

*A couple of Dallas college prospects – Alex Guptill (third round/2010) and Scott Winkler (third round/2008) – did not play this past week. Their teams had the weekend off.

*Injury notes: C Radek Faksa (first round/2012) remains out with an MCL injury for Kitchener of the OHL. C Gemel Smith (fourth round/2012) is still out with a lower body injury for Owen Sound of the OHL. RW Branden Troock (fifth round/2012) remains out with an upper body injury for Seattle of the WHL.
