Dallas Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen left Friday night’s game in Vancouver with just over six minutes left in the first period due to a lower body injury. He’ll be re-evaluated Saturday in Dallas.
Lehtonen was injured at the 13:33 mark of the first while stopping a shot by Vancouver forward Jordan Schroeder. Lehtonen immediately left the ice after the play, headed to the locker room and did not return.
“He’s going to be re-evaluated when we get back to Dallas (Saturday). It’s a lower body injury,” Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said.
Lehtonen missed 12 games last season with a groin injury, but Gulutzan didn’t think this injury was as serious.
“To me, it doesn’t seem as severe (as last season’s injury),” Gulutzan said.
Richard Bachman replaced Lehtonen in Friday’s game, stopping 18 of 21 shots as the Stars defeated the Canucks, 4-3.
