Stars defenseman Aaron Rome played the three seasons in Vancouver, and it appears no one knew just how great the Rome era in Vancouver was.
“What I didn’t’ know about Romer when I walked in here was he was the MVP and top scorer,” said Stars coach Glen Gulutzan. “When I saw him this morning I said he better be in the PP meeting. We mis-scouted him.”
Rome’s named was taped over every 2011-12 Canucks award listed along a corridor at Rogers Arena on Friday. He was the Canucks MVP as voted by fans , he was the Canucks most exciting player as voted by fans, he received most game star selections, he was the team’s top defenseman, the team’s unsung hero and more.
Tonight, Rome will playshis first game against the Canucks since signing with the Stars as a free agent, and he took the recognition by his former teammates in stride.
“That’s nothing new,” Rome said. “Guys here like to have fun. I enjoy it. It’s good.”
The top suspects were Ryan Kesler and Roberto Luongo.
