Philip Larsen will be back in the lineup tonight when the Dallas Stars take on the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place. Larsen, who has been a scratch four of the last five games, is expected to be paired with Alex Goligoski on the blue line.
Ryan Garbutt, a scratch the last three games, will be back in the lineup as well. He’s expected to play on a line with Eric Nystrom and Vernon Fiddler.
Stars coach Glen Gulutzan expects both Larsen and Garbutt to bring a lot of energy to the lineup.
“They better because it’s a chance to play, and it’s a big two points for us,” said Gulutzan. “We trust both those players, and the opportunity to come in and contribute, they should play with lots of energy and juice.”
Jamie Oleksiak, Antoine Roussel and Tom Wandell are expected to be scratches for Dallas.
Gulutzan said he’ll bring fresh legs into the lineup Wednesday, when the Stars play in Calgary on the second night of a back-to-back.
“You’ll see fresh legs tomorrow,” said Gulutzan. “We’re not going to dance around keeping things together. We’ve got most of our core together and we’re going to put guys in tomorrow that can give us some fresh legs in back-to-backs.”
Kari Lehtonen gets the start in goal for the Stars tonight against the Oilers.
As for the Oilers, forward Ryan Smyth and defenseman Ryan Whitney are expected to be healthy scratches tonight. Former Stars defenseman Mark Fistric will be in for the Oilers, and will be play his first game against his former team. Devan Dubnyk will get the start in goal for Edmonton.
