The Dallas Stars announced today that forward Antoine Roussel has been assigned to the Texas Stars, Dallas’ development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Roussel, 23, made his NHL debut on Feb. 1 against the Phoenix Coyotes, where he earned his first career NHL goal on his first shot. In five NHL appearances this season, Roussel has one goal, zero assists, and seven shots with six penalty minutes. The Roubaix, France native became the eighth French-born player to skate in an NHL game, and is one of five Dallas Stars since 2006 to score a goal in his first NHL contest. Prior to his recall, the 6-foot-0, 180-pound forward ranked seventh on the Texas Stars in scoring with 19 points (8G-11A), and led the team with 103 penalty minutes. Roussel went undrafted and as was signed by Dallas as a free agent on July 2, 2012.
The Dallas Stars are currently on a three-game winning streak as they travel to Western Canada for a three-game road swing, starting Tuesday, Feb. 12, against the Edmonton Oilers at 8:30 pm CT (TV: FOX Sports Southwest, Radio: 1310 The Ticket). The team plays the Calgary Flames on Wednesday, and conclude the trip next Friday against the Vancouver Canucks.
