Defenseman Alex Goligoski, a healthy scratch in Wednesday’s game against Edmonton, will be back in the lineup tonight when the Dallas Stars take on the Anaheim Ducks at American Airlines Center.
“We’re just looking for him to regain some of the pep in his step and the pep in his game,” Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said when asked about his expectations for Goligoski. “We want him to help us on the power play. We want him to take charge out there, which he is capable of doing.”
Goligoski said Wednesday’s healthy scratch was the first for him since his rookie year in Pittsburgh.
“Initially it was a slap, then you cool down a little bit and realize some things and take positives out of it,” said Goligoski. “There’s definitely another level of my game that I really haven’t gotten to yet. I’ve just got to keep working out there, find it and just go play.”
Goligoski will be paired with Jamie Oleksiak tonight. Philip Larsen, who played Wednesday in Edmonton, will be scratched for the fourth time in the last five games.
Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said he will go with the same group of forwards as the last game, meaning Tom Wandell and Ryan Garbutt will sit out. It will be the fifth straight scratch for Wandell and the third for Garbutt.
Kari Lehtonen will start in goal for the Stars tonight.
