About the Stars
The Stars (5-5-1) are coming off a 3-2 overtime win in Edmonton on Wednesday. It was the second straight win for the Stars, the first time this season they’ve put together back-to-back victories. Jamie Benn and Jaromir Jagr each had a goal and an assist in the game. Jagr scored the game-winner 1:46 into overtime.
“He’s quite the player. It’s a privilege playing with him,” Benn said of Jagr. “We had an alright game tonight. We need to get better. We turned too many pucks over. We were lucky to get that win.”
Wednesday’s tilt wrapped up a three-game road trip for the Stars, who play at home Friday against the Ducks and then hit the road again for another three-game trip.
Kari Lehtonen is the likely starter in goal on Friday.
Injuries: LW Ray Whitney (foot) is out.
About the Ducks
The Ducks (7-1-1) opened a six-game road trip with a 3-0 victory at Colorado Wednesday. Viktor Fasth stopped 31 shots for his first NHL shutout. Fasth, signed out of Sweden last May, is 4-0-0 with a 0.98 goals against average and .962 save percentage this season.
“You can still find some gems, he’s one of them and we’re lucky to have him,” Ducks defenseman Sheldon Souray said of Fasth. “He plays with such poise and confidence.”
Fasth, the Swedish Elite League Goaltender of the Year the last two seasons, has stopped 101 of 105 shots in his four starts.
Souray scored his fourth goal of the season for the Ducks, who took over first place in the Pacific Division with the victory.
Injuries: D Toni Lydman (flu) is day-to-day. D Cam Fowler (upper body) is out.
