About the Stars

The Stars (2-2-1) lost 4-3 to St. Louis Saturday night in Dallas. The Stars were without Jaromir Jagr and Derek Roy due to injury issues. Jamie Benn, signed to a contract on Thursday, was still waiting for immigration paperwork to be wrapped up. And Kari Lehtonen didn’t start in goal due to a minor tweak.

Still, the Stars made a game of it. After giving up three unanswered goals in the second period to fall behind 4-2, the Stars put on a strong push in the third period to pull within a goal, but couldn’t get the equalizer.

“Some top end guys weren’t in our lineup. I’m pretty proud of the effort that the guys put in,”
said Stars captain Brenden Morrow. “It’s a real tough team to play against and we held right in there until the end.”

Jamie Benn’s status for Monday is still up in the air. His immigration paperwork still needs to be processed so he can get a work visa, be placed on the active roster and be eligible to play. (Update: Benn’s paper work was approved Monday afternoon and he will play)

Lehtonen will start in goal.

The Stars placed G Cristopher Nilstorp, who suffered a groin injury in Saturday’s game, on IR Sunday and recalled G Richard Bachman from Texas of the AHL.

Injuries: RW Jaromir Jagr (back/hip) is probable. Derek Roy (groin) is questionable. G Cristopher Nilstorp (groin) is out.

About the Blue Jackets

The Blue Jackets (1-3-1) had their winless streak pushed to four games (0-3-1) with a 3-2 loss to Chicago in Columbus.

A key moment in the game came in the second period when the Blue Jackets appeared to tie the game 2-2 on a power play goal by Derick Brassard. But the goal was waved off by referee Dan O’Rourke, who ruled Columbus forward Nick Foligno made inappropriate contact with Chicago goaltender Corey Crawford.

“You never know how a game’s going to end up,” Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards said. “[The goal being disallowed] certainly changed the course of the game. At the time, we were down 2-1. It’s a huge play. He makes the call, he saw what he saw. There’s nothing we can do once he makes the call.”

It was the third straight regulation loss for Columbus.

Injuries:  RW Cam Atkinson (lower body) is out.
