Friday January 4, Texas at Houston: Stars 2, Aeros 1
Cristopher Nilstorp stopped 25 of 26 shots, and Jordie Benn and Alex Chiasson scored goals as the Stars defeated the Houston Aeros, 2-1.
Chiasson’s power play goal with 6:53 left in the second period snapped a 1-1 tie and held up as the game-winner for the Stars.
Saturday January 5, Peoria at Texas: Stars 5, Rivermen 2
Matt Fraser scored two goals and Colton Sceviour had one goal and one assist for the Stars, who defeated Peoria, 5-2, at Cedar Park Center.
Jamie Oleksiak and Max Fortunus also tallied for Texas, which led 4-0 after two periods.
Jack Campbell got the start in goal and stopped 36 of 38 shots.
Sunday January 6, Houston at Texas, Stars 4, Aeros 3 (OT)
Cody Eakin scored on the power play 1:45 into overtime to give the Stars their third straight win, a 4-3 overtime victory over the Houston Aeros at Cedar Park Center.
The goal came in what may be the last with Texas for Eakin, who is expected to play with Dallas now that the NHL is about to ramp up for the season.
“That’s what every guy on the team hopes for and is looking for,” Eakin said. “You’ve got to wait and see and if it does happen, it’s nice to go out on a note like we did, whoever it may be.”
Reilly Smith scored a shorthanded goal and assisted on Eakin’s game-winner. Mike Hedden and Fortunus also tallied for the Stars.
Nilstorp stopped 24 of 27 shots.
*The Stars have scored on the power play in eight straight games and are 10-34 (29.4 percent) on the PP during that stretch. They have climbed to 11th in the league on the power play at 18.0 percent.
