The Texas Stars went 1-2-1-0 over the past week. The Stars, who have dropped four of their last five games (1-3-1-0), are 16-11-3-2 on the season, ranking fourth in the South Division and seventh in the Western Conference through Dec. 31.
Wednesday December 26, Texas at Houston: Aeros 4, Stars 3 (OT)
The Stars came out of the Christmas break and dropped a 4-3 overtime game to Houston. The Aeros won the game on Kyle Medvec’s goal at 2:15 of the extra period.
Matt Fraser, Cody Eakin and Antoine Roussel scored for the Stars. Cristopher Nilstorp stopped 25 of 29 shots.
Thursday December 27, Oklahoma City at Texas: Barons 5, Stars 4
Taylor Hall scored three goals to lead the Barons to a 5-4 victory over the Stars at Cedar Park Center on Thursday night.
The Stars overcame 2-0 and 3-2 deficits in the game, but Hall scored two goals in a 1:30 span of the third period to put the Barons up for good in the game.
Colton Sceviour scored two goals for Texas. Jamie Oleksiak and Roussel also scored. Jack Campbell stopped 21 of 26 shots.
Texas was without leading scorer Cody Eakin. He missed the game after taking a high stick to the mouth in Wednesday’s game against Houston.
The Stars lost Tomas Vincour in the game when he was checked in the head by Oklahoma City’s Chris VandeVelde, who was not penalized but was suspended three games the next day by the AHL.
Saturday December 29, Charlotte at Texas: Stars 3, Checkers 1
Alex Chiasson had one goal and one assist, and Nilstorp stopped 30 shots as the Stars snapped a three-game winless streak with a 3-1 victory over the Charlotte at Cedar Park Center.
Toby Petersen and Eakin also scored for Texas.
After Charlotte took an early lead, Petersen tied the game in the first and Chiasson scored what would hold up as the game-winner when he redirected a Reilly Smith shot into the net with Texas on the power play.
Eakin provided the insurance goal in the third.
Monday December 31, Texas at Oklahoma City: Barons 5, Stars 2
Jordan Eberle scored three goals and assisted on another as the Barons won their fourth straight game with a 5-2 victory over the Stars.
All three of Eberle’s goals came in the first period as the Barons headed to the intermission with a 3-0 lead.
Sceviour and Fraser scored for Texas, which had a 44-27 shots advantage in the game. Nilstorp made 22 saves on 26 shots.
*The Stars posted a 7-4-2-0-0 record in December. They were 6-3-1-1 in November and 3-4-0-0 in October.
*The Stars are 10-17 (58.8 percent) on the penalty kill over the last five games. They rank 30th in the league on the PK at 78.8 percent.
