Prospect notes: Austin Smith, Matej Stransky stay hot

Here are some notes on Dallas Stars prospects who were in action Friday night.

*Right wing Austin Smith (fifth round/2007) ran his points streak to 11 games, picking up one assist as the Idaho Steelheads rallied to defeat Bakersfield, 5-2, in the ECHL. Smith’s streak appeared to end Friday night, but after a late scoring review he was given an assist on a goal by Steelheads defenseman Hubert Labrie. Smith has 17 points (12 goals, 5 assists) during the streak, which is the fourth longest points streak in the league this season.

*Right wing Matej Stransky (sixth round/2011) pushed his goal scoring streak to six games, scoring one goal in Saskatoon’s 4-3 victory over Swift Current in the Western Hockey League. Stransky has scored eight goals during the six-game streak.

*Center Mike Winther (second round/2012) had one goal and one assist in Prince Albert’s 5-4 shootout loss to Kootenay in the WHL. It was the 11th multi-point game of the season for Winther, who has 32 points (14 goals, 18 assists) in 31 games.

*LW Curtis McKenzie (sixth round/2011) scored the game-tying goal in Miami University’s 1-1 tie with Ohio State.  McKenzie, a senior, is third on Miami in scoring this season with 11 points (5 goals, 6 assists) in 15 games.

*G Maxime Lagace (free agent signing) stopped 19 of 21 shots as P.E.I. defeated Cape Breton, 5-2, in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Lagace has won five of his last six decisions and is 9-6-1 this season with a 3.93 goals against average and .870 save percentage.
