Right wing Austin Smith extended his points streak to nine games with two goals in Idaho’s 5-4 overtime loss to Ontario in the ECHL on Sunday.
Both Smith’s goals on Sunday came in the third period, including the game-tying goal with 18 seconds remaining. Smith now has five goals over his last three games.
During the nine-game points streak, which began right after he was assigned to Idaho from the Texas Stars last month, Smith has registered 15 points (11 goals, 4 assists).
Smith’s streak ranks second among current points streaks in the ECHL and is tied for fifth longest in the league this season.
Smith, Dallas fifth round pick (128th overall) in 2007, has played a total of 15 games with Idaho this season, and has 20 points (14 goals, 6 assists) and a plus-14 rating.
