Saturday notes: Austin Smith scores two; Brett Ritchie’s goal scoring streak ends

Here are a few notes on Dallas Stars prospects who were in action Friday night.

*Right wing Austin Smith (fifth round/2007) scored two goals as the Idaho Steelheads defeated Las Vegas, 6-3. Smith has three goals in two games since being sent to Steelheads from the Texas Stars earlier this week. Smith has 6 goals and 2 assists in 8 games with Idaho for the season.

*Right wing Brett Ritchie’s eight-game goal scoring streak ended last night, but he picked up two assists to extend his points streak to nine games as Niagara defeated Belleville, 4-1, in the Ontario Hockey League.  Ritchie (second round/2011) has 16 goals and 8 assists in those 9 games.

*Center Radek Faksa (first round/2012) had two assists in Kitchener’s 5-0 victory over Sarnia in the OHL. Faksa has 6 assists in his last 3 games and points in 6 of his last 7 games.

*Right wing Matej Stransky (sixth round/2011) ran his goal scoring streak to four games with one goal in Saskatoon’s 3-2 victory over Kamloops in the Western Hockey League. Stransky, who had an assist as well Friday night, has 5 goals and 2 assists over the last four games.
