Wednesday prospect notes: Brett Ritchie stays hot with one goal, two assists

A couple of prospect notes on a Wednesday night:

*Dallas Stars prospect Brett Ritchie stayed hot in the Ontario Hockey League, scoring a goal and adding two assists as the Niagara IceDogs defeated the Erie Otters, 5-2, Wednesday night.

Ritchie, a second round pick in 2011, ran his goal scoring streak to six games. He has 13 goals during the six-game stretch and has chipped in 6 assists as well for a total of 19 points.

After scoring just one goal in his first 12 games, Ritchie has scored 16 goals in his last 10 games. He now has 17 goals and 18 assists in 22 games this season. His 17 goals are tied for second in the league and his  35 points are tied for second in the league as well.

*Play has resumed in the European leagues after a short break, and defenseman Jyrki Jokipakka scored his fifth goal of the season in Ilves’ 5-3 loss to Karpat on Tuesday. Jokipakka, a seventh round pick in 2011, is tied for the league lead in goal scoring among defensemen in Finland’s top league and his 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) are tied for fifth among defensemen in the SM-Liiga. He ranks ninth among all players in the league in average ice time per game at 25:19.
