Brett Ritchie plays well, but OHL falls to Russia

Dallas Stars prospect Brett Ritchie and Team OHL came up short against Russia in the Subway Super Series Thursday night, falling 2-1 in the third game of the series.  The victory was the first in 19 games for Russia against the OHL in the Super Series. (Story on NHL.com is here)

Ritchie, who played on a line with Zach Hall and Ryan Strome, didn’t factor in the scoring, but he did have some good chances and played a strong, physical game. His performance drew favorable reviews on Twitter Thursday night. Here are a few of the notable ones.

From TSN’s Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie):

“DAL prospect Brett Richie of Niagara Ice Dogs has played a strong game for OHL. Will get a long look for 3rd or 4th line wing duty (on Canada’s World Junior Championship roster)”

From CBC’s Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC):

“Brett Ritchie — an @DallasStars prospect — is a beast.”

From Mark Edwards of HockeyProspects.com (@MarkEdwardsHP):

“Had a lot of people question us for ranking Ritchie in the 1st round. He was great tonight and obviously on fire for Niagara of late.”
